U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said Sunday that she will introduce an assault weapons ban bill on the first day that the new Congress begins this January.
“I’m going to introduce in the Senate, and the same bill will be introduced in the House — a bill to ban assault weapons,” Feinstein said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Feinstein’s statements come just two days after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., where gunman Adam Lanza reportedly used a Bushmaster .223 assault rifle to murder 26 people, including 20 children.
