Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban supports Italy’s decision to turn away a ship with 600 migrants from its ports, Reuters reports.
Orban said at a news conference that “It was so depressing to hear for years that it is impossible to protect maritime borders,” and added “Will power has returned to Italy.”
The Hungarian Prime Minister is a hardliner against migration and has reduced illegal migration in his country by more than 99 per cent.
Last month Orban said it’s better to help migrants in their homelands:
“We are a Christian nation; we know what an obligation means, and help — we believe the principle that help should be provided over there, instead of bringing the trouble here. We cannot help anybody if we ruin our own countries in the meantime.”
