THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) has been accused of “breaking a taboo” by proposing to use development aid to fund ARMIES, both inside the superstate and across the world.

The plan, which would see the security forces of unsettled countries funded by the EU’s development fund, has been sharply criticised after it was put forward by the European Commission last week.
Delegate Reinhad Bütikofer blasted the EU for working on the project “clandestinely without any public debate.”
He added Brussels should not “misuse a central instrument of conflict prevention to finance equipment measures instead” and also accused Eurocrats of “breaking a taboo.”
Delegate Sabine Lösing also criticised the proposal, which she said was “scandalous” and a “misappropriation of development aid.”
She warned it was just the latest effort the EU was making to “militarise the EU foreign affairs.”
