Soldiers are to stay on the streets of Brussels for at least another week as schools and the metro remain closed over terror attack fears as staff working at the EU are also warned to stay at home.
Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel has warned that the terror threat remains ‘serious and imminent’ and that armed soldiers and police are to stay on patrol in the capital’s streets until at least Monday.
Today schools in the area and the Brussels Metro remained closed for a fourth consecutive day, with shops and even NATO’s headquarters remaining shut.
However, the metro is set to re-open tomorrow along with schools, however NATO headquarters and EU workers have been told non-essential staff should work from home.
The alert will be reviewed again on Monday.
