CHICAGO (WLS) — A child was admitted to University of Chicago Medical Center for observation to rule out the Ebola virus early Friday morning.

Authorities found the patient had a fever but no other Ebola symptoms during a screening at O’Hare International Airport.

The child is quarantined in accordance with strict protocols as doctors observe his or her condition.

The initial testing was done at O’Hare by federal officials. The child was then brought to the University of Chicago because it is one of the Ebola treatment facilities designated by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

New information from the hospital about the case is expected later on Friday. Because of privacy laws the only information that has been released is that the child is in stable condition.

The operating room and medical center schedules have not been affected by this case.

There have been no confirmed cases of Ebola in Chicago. University of Chicago officials said there is no threat to the public.
