Between five and 10 British passengers were among the 295 killed when a Malaysian Airlines plane was ‘shot down’ on the Russia-Ukraine border, it has been revealed.
There were reportedly 23 American passengers on the flight, according to Interfax news agency. At a news conference on Thursday afternoon, President Obama said that authorities were ‘working to confirm’ whether any American passengers on board.
Flight MH17, which was carrying 280 passengers and 15 crew and took off from Schiphol airport shortly after lunchtime today.
