ORLANDO —
The family of an Orlando woman who contracted the H1N1 strand of the so-called ‘swine flu’ says she has died.
In an email Thursday, the woman’s husband said she died Tuesday at Florida Hospital East. The husband urged everyone in the community to get their flu shots.
The latest victim is the third person to die from flu complications in Central Florida in the last month. Two women have died in Brevard County, including one who had just given birth in December.
Health officials have called the latest case of the flu an “epidemic.” H1N1 is the same type of strain as the so-called “swine flu” that caused a pandemic in 2009, and is currently affecting pregnant women and people under 40 years old.
