The Danger of Hate Crimes
There are crimes committed by people who are filled with hate. There are hateful people who commit crimes. There are bigots who carry out crimes against various and targeted groups and they should be punished. However, there is no such thing as a hate crime. Hate speech, hate crimes are invalid concepts. Crimes are crimes, period.
The concept of a hate crime is an anathema to a democratic republic. The very notion of a hate crime is dangerous and will soon be used to force acceptance of lifestyles which Americans have a right to not honor.
