Steve,

Last night I was talking to a friend who is a career Illinois National guardsman and has served a few tours over seas. I asked him what he had been up to lately, as I had not seen him for a few months. He informed me that he just got back from his latest training in which he has been working with Illinois state police. He told me that they had been training to kick in doors, serve arrest warrants, and perform drug raids. He then told me he would be “deploying” to the area around Danville Illinois within the next few weeks. I know Danville has serious drug problems, but something just just didn’t seem right about national guardsman doing this kind of thing in America. For what it’s worth he is the typical 20 something hothead, “I have the power”, kind of guy the powers that be love to use. I tried to pump him for more info but he became tight lipped and even tried to ask me some questions. Anyway take it for what it’s worth, I just thought it was interesting because of another post talking about Illinois guard convoys around Effingham. I know in the past 6 months I have seen all kinds of equipment from U.N. marked tanks, humvees, generators, tankers, to flatbed trucks with military shipping containers on them being moved around the area. (mostly towards Chicago).
