CALIFORNIA – A magnitude-4.6 earthquake struck off the Santa Barbara coast Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor struck at 7:38 a.m. about three miles west of Isla Vista, the USGS reported. Initial reports indicated that the quake had a magnitude of 4.9, but that was later adjusted to 4.6. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department said there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Dozens of people stretching from Bakersfield to Manhattan Beach reported feeling the quake on the USGS “Did you feel it?” site. Others weighed in on social media. “That was a shaker!” @Larsonomics tweeted. “It has definitely been a while since I was woken up by an earthquake. Thanks Santa Barbara,” @SnsetStripLocal wrote. A magnitude-2.6 aftershock struck at 7:50 a.m. in the same spot, the USGS said. –LA Times
