Senator says EPA approval of Corexit “unprecedented”; Agency had never tested dispersant

Bloomberg reported that the EPA’s newly released dispersant testing “was the first time the agency had sponsored independent testing.”
“I can’t think of another circumstance in which a regulatory agency approves something for use without actually coming to a formal decision that it is safe to be used… There doesn’t appear to be an evaluating moment,” Senator Sheldon Whitehouse said.
