CHILE – A 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck 30 miles (48 kilometers) from the port city of Valparaiso in Chile on Tuesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said. No tsunami warning has been issued. The earthquake had a depth of 16.1 miles, the USGS said. There were no immediate reports of major damage, but it was felt in the capital city, Santiago, located 69 miles from the epicenter. Chile is on the so-called “Ring of Fire,” an arc of volcanoes and fault lines circling the Pacific Basic that is prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. -CNN
