ABOUT A CRISIS THAT ISN’T A CRISIS

As I was thrashing my mind for a title for this, my latest compilation of words, the idiomatical phrase “stupid is as stupid does”, from the Tom Hank’s movie Forrest Gump, popped into my mind. At first blush I thought this would be an entirely inappropriate word title to occupy that exalted space atop the dissertation, but then the past two weeks of frenetic disorganized and comedic congressional and presidential disturbance in regard to the debt ceiling that provided such a large public entertainment came to mind.

I interpret that Forrest Gump phrase to mean that stupidity is not discerned by appearance, but rather by deeds. Indeed the performance of the members of both houses of congress and the Obama administration more closely resembled a primate animal act of a traveling circus than it did a dignified proceeding of government. And so it is that I salute the members of congress and our constitutionally illicit president for my title. Also, I am exceedingly grateful for their inspiration for following examples of “as stupid does”.

Adolph Hitler was a master at creating crises, he promoted a series of such that enabled him to establish a fascist despotic rule over a nation and its people, to institute wars upon sovereign nations, to seize territory, to encourage genocide, and to force his will upon a major portion of the world.
