President Trump dashed off two tweets Tuesday morning defending himself against an onslaught of criticism on the heels of a report that said he shared ‘highly classified’ information with the Russians.

‘As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety. Humanitarian reasons, plus I want Russia to greatly step up their fight against ISIS & terrorism,’ Trump wrote.

Trump’s tweets seemingly confirm what the Washington Post first reported Monday afternoon, and contradict a number of White House and Trump administration officials releasing statements questioning the validity of the story.

Leading the pack was Trump’s National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster, who told a pack of reporters Monday night, ‘The story that came out tonight is false.’
