Washington has been at loggerheads with Beijing over disputed territory in the South China Sea.
Both sides have held huge military drills with China said to be aiming 1,500 missiles at US military bases in Japan.
US President Donald Trump agreed to work with Chinese leader Xi Jinping to “solve North Korea” in a “tremendous” meeting last week.
But a new bombshell documentary claims conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations could be a reality.
Award-winning journalist John Pilger laid bare the extent of the huge military build-up in his new documentary The Coming War on China.
In the film he claims the US has created 400 bases packed with “missiles, naval battle groups, nuclear bombers and drones”.
US military expansion in Pacific the has created a “noose” around China who the White House views as the “perfect enemy”.
Pilger said escalating tensions between the two nations has made war “a real possibility”.
He told news.au: “China is surrounded by 400 US military bases in what one strategist describes as a ‘noose’.
“Many of these bases are on China’s doorstep, armed with missiles, naval battle groups, nuclear bombers, drones. US naval warships patrol just outside Chinese waters.”
