There is a subterranean river of anger, rage and violence that flows just under the daily currents of American public life. It flows, unseen, much like the great rivers that live within our oceans and which control so much of the earth’s weather and climate.
Because these American undercurrents are rarely seen, they are thought by many to no longer exist. It is true they rarely surface, and for that we may all be grateful, because they are ever-present. A variety of outrages may occur on the surface where we live, yet nothing emerges from the subterranean deep. But oftentimes the outrages are cumulative; it is impossible to predict which one, piled upon the previous, will suddenly awaken public outrage.
The surest way to see it is to violate the original Contract with America, also known as the Declaration of Independence. The National Archives note that Abraham Lincoln called it “a rebuke and a stumbling-block to tyranny and oppression,” and so it is. The preamble states:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
The War of Independence was fought over these rights, which our founders believed were impossible to remove from the human race. The Civil War was fought over them. And the war against the deep state is being fought over them right now. See if we are not once again here.
The Constitution was the implementation plan. It set down the barriers that barred the federal government’s entrance into the private daily lives of American citizens. Today’s federal government is nothing but one continuous, dam-breaking flood of illegal actions directed against American citizens by their own government and its self-aggrandizing “public servants,” many of whom are swamp creatures involved in corruption up to their eyeballs.
