Kim Jong Un’s latest missile launch appears to have ended in failure, just days after North Korea claimed it had managed a major breakthrough in its rocket programme.

The North fired a missile from the eastern coastal town of Wonsan on Wednesday, according to South Korean and Japanese officials.
It comes amid fears dictator Kim Jong-Un is preparing to launch an inter-continental ballistic missile capable of travelling more than 6,000 miles – putting the US within its range.

Pyongyang is also looking to ‘accelerate’ its nuclear and missile programme in a move that would give the secretive nation ‘pre-emptive first-strike capability’, a North Korean diplomat claimed.

Amid heightened tensions between North Korea and Seoul, US bombers have been pictured carrying out training exercises in the South today.
