Iran’s military has launched a number of ‘smart and advanced’ rockets, days after saying it will be ‘unmoved by threats’ from the Trump administration.

Reports by the semi-official Tasnim news agency, which is considered to be close to the Revolutionary Guard, said the launch of the sophisticated weapons came during an annual three-day maneuver.

The exercise began today in Iran’s central desert.

State TV showed footage of several rockets launching from the back of trucks in the desert.

General Mohammad Pakpour, head of the Revolutionary Guards’ ground forces, said rockets with ranges of more than 62 miles, as well as the Fajr-3, Fajr-4 and Fajr-5 rockets, believed to have a shorter range, were successfully tested.

He said the tests send a message to any of Iran’s potential adversaries, stating: ‘We are ready to give a crushing response to any threat.’

Earlier this month, the United States said it has put Iran ‘on notice’ after the country test fired a medium-range ballistic missile.
