Trump is entering office with a mandate from millions of disenfranchised Americans. The economic policies espoused by the self-serving, middle-class destroying establishment over the last 30 years have resulted in the rich getting obscenely richer and the poor getting miserably poorer. The end result is that economic and social mobility for average American families has declined, and for all practical purposes has disappeared. And what Obama calls an economic recovery is now much lower than in other advanced economies. This has been an important cause for disillusion and anger among many Americans who absolutely and correctly feel that the economic system is rigged against them and in favor of the very rich.

It is not just that the rich are getting richer, there is also a secondary issue at work and it has to do with the fact that millions of Americans are witnessing the unveiling of a police state that discriminates against self-employment, the desecration of the Constitution and an attack upon traditional values that have their roots in Christianity.

There is a smaller, but still large segment, who fear for their lives as Americans. Many Americans are very concerned because we see our enemies getting stronger by the day and Obama has seemingly done everything he can do to weaken America’s military. We have fewer ships than we did in World War I and fewer troops than we did prior to World War II when this nation was woefully unprepared to fight a war.

Can a Trump Presidency make the desired changes that the people who elected hope to make?

The Reduction of Cronyism

During the 2016 campaign, Trump clearly stated that “If I become president, I couldn’t care less about my company. It’s peanuts… I wouldn’t ever be involved because I wouldn’t care about anything but our country, anything.” It was in this spirit that he stated that he would try and eliminate as much corruption as possible by eliminating the practice of people connected to Congress going to work as lobbyists for private interests for five years following their governmental service.

This is a brilliant move because I am tired of being sold out by former Congressmen in this regard. The American people should expect their politicians not to use their positions, directly or indirectly, to enrich themselves. Now, can Trump get Congress to vote against their own corruption? That remains to be seen.
