A lone gunman has opened fire at a major US airport, killing at least five people and injuring a number of others.
At least 13 people were shot during the terrifying incident at Fort Lauderdale Airport in Florida, local media reports.
Five people have been declared dead so far, while eight others are wounded, official sources told NBC and CNN.
Horrified witnesses have described how “everyone” started running as the gunman opened fire at the popular airport.
One shocking photo, posted on social media, shows a man sitting injured on the ground outside the building, surrounded by blood.
It is thought that he was gunned down outside the airport, while the other victims were shot in the baggage claim area.
Witness John Schichler said a slender, gun-wielding man in a blue “Star Wars” shirt began randomly firing at people.
