Papua New Guinea has been rocked by a massive 8.0 magnitude earthquake.
The quake hit the southwestern Pacific country about 46km east of Taron, shortly before 10pm AEDT on Saturday.
It was also recorded at a depth of 73km.
Authorities have warned residents to expect serious aftershocks which have the potential to cause building damage and falling debris.
Experts have also issued a tsunami warning following the 8.0 magnitude quake.
