Daesh militants have responded to Iraq’s Counter-terrorist Service (ICT) advance in Mosul with deployment on their way four car bombs, local media reported Friday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The counterterrorist unit has been engaged in fierce clashes with Daesh in the city’s eastern districts of al-Nur for 10th day in a row, Kurdish media network Rudaw said. During this time, ICT has been assisted by the US-led coalition. This combined effort has helped reduce the amount of attacks, as well as diminish Daesh resources, the news outlet added.
Daesh, a jihadist group outlawed by Russia, overran large parts of Iraq in 2014 amid the ongoing civil war in neighboring Syria.
