Fort Lauderdale International Airport will be closed today from 10am
Miami and Orlando airports said they were watching the situation closely but warned customers there would be flight cancellations and delays
Amtrak is temporarily suspending services in the south due to severe weather impacting the east coast of Florida
Cruise lines are shuffling ship itineraries and many frantic vacationers are looking at insurance policies to see if they are covered
Two million have been told to evacuate their homes along the East Coast
Fleeing residents caused major gridlock along the streets

Flights are cancelled, Amtrak services are suspended and streets are gridlocked as Florida braces itself for the deadly Hurricane Matthew.

The dangerous storm, which has already killed 26 people across the Caribbean, is set to make landfall in the Sunshine State today, before moving up the East Coast.

Flights in and out of Florida will be heavily affected today as the state’s main airports warn of closures, cancellations and delays.

Amtrak is also temporarily suspending services in the south due to severe weather impacting the east coast of Florida.
