‘We need to TAKE BACK CONTROL’ Balkan countries warn they will NOT take more migrants

TOUGH-TALKING leaders along the Balkans route are steaming ahead with their own plans to clamp down on the migrant influx, insisting they need to take back CONTROL.

With countries across the EU tightening their borders and ignoring Brussels migrant quotas, Western Balkans nations have been warned of another surge in arrivals, which could push them to breaking point.

The numbers of asylum seekers using the Balkans route through Greece and central Europe had dropped off following the controversial EU-Turkey deal, but it is now on the rise again.

Now leaders along the Western Balkan migratory route, which saw one million people pass through last year on their way to Germany and northern Europe, have pledged they will not let the influx repeat this year,

Ahead of a migration summit in Vienna on Saturday, Austria’s chancellor and foreign minister urged Brussels to take action to tighten Europe’s external borders and send aid to countries where most migrants leave from.
