Peru ROCKED by huge 6.1 magnitude earthquake

PERU has been rocked by an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter Scale.

The huge quake struck early this morning around 50km north-northeast of the city of Moyobamba, home to more than 50,000 people.

The Richter Scale marks 6.1 as “strong”, and capable of causing “damage to a moderate number of well-built structures in populated areas”.

There are no reports or any injuries or damage at this stage following the incident, which occured at around 11.08am GMT.
