‘Everything is black’ Apocalyptic scenes as ISIS torch oil wells while fighters flee

ISLAMIC STATE fanatics attempted to burn an Iraqi town to the ground after they were forced to abandoned it by advancing government forces.

The Iraqi Army’s Twitter account posted images of smoke billowing into the sky after members of the bloodthirsty terror network ruptured pipelines and torched oil wells in Qayyara, in northern Iraq.

Footage shows huge black columns of smoke blocking out the sun as huge fires dominate the landscape.

Iraqi soldiers claim members of ISIS destroyed pipelines carrying oil in a deliberate attempt to flood the area with the highly flammable substance to leave nothing behind as they evacuated Qayyara.

In retaking Qayyara from ISIS, Iraqi forces have dealt a significant blow to the group’s finances as militants had been plundering as many as 60 wells in the area.
