‘Britain is NOT PREPARED for future conflicts’ Top military chief warns of ‘trouble ahead’
THE UK is ill-prepared for a future war despite the risks of a conflict having dramatically increased in recent years, a leading figure in Britain’s military establishment has warned.

Admiral Lord West, the former head of the Royal Navy, said the world was “fragmented and dangerous” following the Brexit vote and increased tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
Instability in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as Chinese expansion in the Pacific, was adding to the deteriorating security situation, he said.
And he warned that the British armed forces were suffering from chronic under-investment and described the country’s naval capacity as a “national disgrace”.
Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: “There is inevitably trouble ahead and when it does all go wrong you cannot produce forces out of a box.
“There is a desperate shortage of funding and resources.”
The Falklands War veteran said Britain’s air and land forces were now “way down the batting order” compared with an increasingly belligerent Russia which was investing “a huge amount upgrading their nuclear capability and their conventional forces”.
