FRANCOIS HOLLANDE has arrived at a Normandy church just an hour after it was targeted by Islamist terrorists – in stark contrast to Chancellor Angela Merkel who took more than a DAY to even speak about four horror attacks in Germany.

The French president visited the scene in the town of Saint Etienne du Rouvray after two attackers, allegedly shouting “Allah Akbar”, stormed a church and took hostages at around 10am local time.

Speaking at the scene, the president said France was “at war” with the barbaric Islamic State (ISIS) and slammed what he described as a “vile terrorist attack”.

He called for the country to fight the war against ISIS “by all means”.

The bloody attack claimed the life of Father Jacques Hamel, 84, who had his throat slashed, while a second hostage is fighting for their life.

As details of the horrific attack unfolded, Hollande ensured he met families of the victims and traumatised hostages to pay his respects.

Hollande’s hasty visit could not be any different to the reaction of Germany’s Mrs Merkel who has been heavily critcised for being slow to react to the four horror attacks in which 15 people were been killed and scores injured last week.

The most recent attack took place in Ansbach, near Nuremburg, when a Syrian asylum seeker blew himself up outside a wine bar as revellers enjoyed a music festival.

Three people were critically injured in the suicide bomber’s blast and nine more injured in the horrifying attack in the city’s old town.
