Thousands cancel holidays to France after strike protests turn violent in FOUR cities

PROTESTS have turned ugly as violent clashes broke out across four French cities between demonstrators and riot police as strikes continue to cripple the country.

Thousands of holiday makers have cancelled their planned trips to France ahead of the British bank holiday this weekend.

According to reports 28 per cent of tourists planning to travel to Paris this weekend have cancelled their trips as tensions reach boiling point.

Police in Paris have confirmed they have put 19,000 officers on the streets to tackle more than 100,000 protestors.

Around 22.4 million people visited the city alone last year but with the country in chaos, Britons are choosing to avoid visiting.

Protesters through paint at buildings and have deliberately targeted auto dealerships and widespread outbreaks of civil unrest.

Riot police clashed with protestors during demonstrations in the French captial Paris, Grenoble, Nantes and the port city of Bordeaux in the south of the country.

The clashes are the latest in a series of social unrest and protests that have frequently turned violent.
