There are ‘extremely worrying’ signs ISIS is making its own chemical weapons – and may already have used them in Iraq and Syria, a global watchdog has warned.
Evidence of sulphur mustard attacks has been detected in the two countries, according to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
The watchdog’s leader Ahmet Uzumcu said there are now ‘strong suspicions’ that ISIS has deadly toxic materials at its disposal.
He also warned the international community to be vigilant should the extremists attempt to use such weapons in a terror attack on the West.
