‘Kill list’ of 43 people linked to various US government departments
The posts – by United Cyber Caliphate – were released on social media app Telegram
But ‘the hack’ doesn’t appear to actually reveal any information that isn’t already out in the public domain
Site Vocativ said many numbers listed were general department contacts
Telegram has previously shut down ISIS-linked accounts, but more just pop up to replace them

A pro-ISIS hackers group who call themselves United Cyber Caliphate distributed a ‘kill list’ Monday that appears to include dozens of U.S. government personnel.

The post appeared on social network site Telegram, one of the main applications it uses to disseminate propaganda.

The list, obtained by Vocativ, features 43 names of people linked to the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security and the departments of defense, energy, commerce and health and services.

Targets outside of Washington include staff at the Department of the Navy in Gulfport, Mississippi, and the U.S. embassies in Santiago and Kathmandu.

But while their intentions are no doubt sinister, the ‘hack’ doesn’t appear to actually reveal any information that isn’t already out in the public domain.

Many of the phone numbers listed for the targeted people are general numbers for institutions or offices, according to the site.

Each target was shared via individual photo-shopped images posted on the Telegram group, from the United Cyber Caliphate account.

‘Wanted to be killed’ was written in English, Arabic, Spanish, Russian and French below each image.
