Gen. Philip Breedlove is pushing ahead with his “European Reassurance Initiative” aimed at “protecting” the EU from an imaginary Russian threat. “But isn’t putting NATO troops on Russia’s borders an aggressive action aimed against Moscow?” Ron Paul and Daniel McAdams ask.

Washington is going to waste about $3.4 billion of American taxpayer money on the so-called “European Reassurance Initiative” aimed at beefing up the US military presence in East Europe in 2017 in order to deter the so-called “Russian aggression.”

In accordance with the plan announced Wednesday by General Phil Breedlove, commander of US European Command (EUCOM), NATO will position additional US troops as well as up to 250 tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Paladin self-propelled howitzers and other heavy armored vehicles along its eastern borders in Europe.

However, former Republican congressman Dr. Ron Paul and American political analyst Daniel McAdams believe that Gen. Breedlove’s initiative, aimed against Russia, resembles nothing so much as “aggression” itself.

Dr. Paul turned the spotlight on the fact that almost 62,000 US military forces are permanently based in Europe. It looks as if it does not cost too much for American taxpayers to increase the number of American troops in the region — “a billion here and a billion there,” the former congressman stressed, nailing the Pentagon.
