The impressive equipment is slated to be ready for service by the end of the year and heralds a huge advancement in China’s military prowess.

The DF-41, with an operational range of up to 9,000miles (14,500km), has entered its final test phase, according to Canada-based Kanwa Asian Defence.

The missile could easily hit US military bases in the Pacific or mainland targets on both the east and west coast of the US.

However experts believe that, in the event of a Chinese attack on the US, sophisticated anti-missile technology would stop any rocket before it reached its target.
