PARTS of Scotland could be hit with up to EIGHT INCHES of snow this weekend.

Forecasters are warning temperatures could even drop lower than Moscow as the white stuff is due to hit high ground in the north of the country.

As Arctic winds sweep across the country Met forecasters predicted 3-10C daytime maximums tomorrow (Fri) and 3-7C at the weekend – 12C colder than last week.

The Met Office said: “The first widespread cold spell of the season will see an Arctic maritime airmass spread across the country, with strong winds.

“Friday will see snow showers in the North increasingly to lower levels, with snow showers into Saturday in other areas, especially the East, with accumulations possible to low levels.
