After the Oregon Shooting, Obama Wastes No Time Coming After Our Guns

With the bodies still warm (assuming this wasn’t just another Oregon active shooter drill), and with the “20-year old male” shooter yet to be identified, President Obama wasted no time taking to national airwaves Thursday afternoon with an impromptu press conference targeting guns. The President’s prepared statement quickly moved from mourning the dead to maligning the NRA, the press and guns in general as he implored the American public to support new gun legislation and more “common sense” gun control laws.

Obama began:

“There’s been another mass shooting in America… America will wrap everyone who is grieving in our prayers and in our love. But as I said just a few months, ago, and I said a few months before that, and I said each time we see one of these mass shootings, our thoughts and prayers are not enough. It’s not enough. it does not capture the heartache and grief and anger that we should feel. And it does nothing to prevent this carnage from being inflicted in America. Next week. Or a couple months from now.”

In the prepared speech, Obama – who CNN mockingbird Wolf Blitzer called “visibly shaken”, said,
