Explosions and implosions have become an everyday occurrence of late in Asia.

Midway through the month the explosion of carry trades stemming from China’s devaluation of the yuan resulted in an untold number of “casualties” (figuratively speaking). Two days later, a tragic explosion at the Chinese port of Tianjin took the lives of 121 people and injured over 700 more. Next, Sakurajima threatened to erupt in Japan triggering fears of a nuclear meltdown at Sendai. Then, the Malaysian ringgit imploded along with trade in Indonesia and finally, on Saturday, a second chemical explosion rocked China killing one worker at a plant in Shandong.

On Sunday we got another fiery blast from the East, this time emanating from a US Military Base near Sagamihara, Japan. This is from Fox:

An explosion has been reported at the U.S. military facility in Sagamihara, Japan, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports, citing the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation.

Sagamihara is a city in the Japanese prefecture of Kanagawa, which borders Tokyo.

“Fire from the American military base has occurred,” the Sagamihara Fire Department said, according to JBC.

The Sagami General Depot houses storage for petroleum products and ammunition.

Video and photos on began streaming in from social media shortly after Noon (EST), showing a large explosion, several loud booms, sustained flames and billowing smoke rising from a structure. No injuries have been reported.
