Boomers are able, ready, and willing to serve up to 80 I imagine. I am of course not considering their ability to defend the Heimat like the Volksturm-although I must say I trust 50-70 more than 22-42 in terms of being somewhat less likely of shooting me dead as I walk to the Library during a protest. It is simply the life experience I am considering. I feel strongly it is doing no favors to the young ones to force them to serve when their parents have nothing but time on their hands.
