Former FBI Attorney Kevin Clinesmith has reportedly pleaded guilty to charges of falsifying information on a FISA warrant application for former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

“It was never his intent to mislead the court or his colleagues as he believed the information he relayed was accurate,” his lawyers said in a statement. “But Kevin understands what he did was wrong and accepts responsibility.”

Clinesmith was charged with editing a 2017 email that was used as evidence to gain a surveillance warrant from the secret court. He reportedly changed the email to read that Page had never served as a CIA source when the original email stated that Page did in fact serve as a CIA source.

House Republicans are hoping that Clinesmith’s guilty plea is only the tip of the iceberg toward getting to the bottom of the many abuses of Obama-gate.

“While I’m encouraged by this advancement in the Durham investigation, I hope this is simply step one in our quest for accountability,” said Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), a House Judiciary Committee member. “It’s clear that this coup reached the highest levels of the Obama Administration, all the way up to the Oval Office.”

Barr has received criticism for slowrolling the investigations currently being conducted by U.S. Attorney John Durham into the origins of the Russian collusion scandal. Barr has used strong rhetoric to describe the heinous actions of the deep state conspirators out to sabotage the Trump presidency.

“What happened to the president in the 2016 election and throughout the first two years of his presidency was abhorrent. It was a grave injustice and it was unprecedented in American history,” Barr said in May.

“The Durham investigation is trying to get to the bottom of what happened. And it will determine whether there are federal laws broken. Those who broke the laws will be held to account,” he added.

Barr appeared on “The Buck Sexton Show” earlier this week to discuss reports that he is planning to hold the Durham findings until after the election. He said that the Justice Department would not “do anything for the purposes of effecting an election.” Barr noted, however, that “there are some things you would like to get accomplished before the election as soon as we can,” and that “there are some things you would like to get accomplished before the election as soon as we can.”

The deep state is extremely concerned that the findings of Durham’s investigation may be highly damaging to the Democrats.

“Any public release of your report in the current closing stage of the presidential election, or any indictments issued during this period as a result of your investigation, clearly will become a major campaign issue and will have political consequences. The longstanding Department policy to avoid such politicization of the Department’s work compels you to prevent this from happening,” wrote left-wing activist Fred Wertheimer, who runs the “nonpartisan” Democracy21 front group, in a letter addressed to Barr.

“If your investigation is not complete, you should not complete it until after the election. If the report is complete, you should publicly oppose any release of your report before the election. The same holds true regarding any indictment made in the closing weeks of the election,” he added.

If the full findings of the Obama-gate investigation are not publicized before the election and deep state criminals are not swiftly held accountable, Barr will go down as a failure in his role as AG.
