A Florida woman who has since tested positive for coronavirus after a trip to Italy claims she told the CDC about her symptoms a week ago but they still allowed her to fly back anyway.

The 29-year-old woman, who has not been identified, has been confirmed as one of Florida’s three coronavirus cases.

The woman tested positive after returning from a trip to Italy, which now has a CDC travel warning in place following the coronavirus outbreak there.

She told Fox13 that she had started to feel sick on the last few days of her trip before boarding a flight back to Tampa, Florida with a layover in New York.

The woman said her health gradually worsened and that she had a fever by the time she landed in New York.

She said she called the CDC to inform them of her symptoms given she had just been in Italy. But the woman claims the CDC told her she was okay to continue on the flight from New York to Tampa.

She was tested for coronavirus after arriving back in Tampa last week and has since remained in her home in self-quarantine. Her roommate, who is believed to have also traveled to Italy, is in isolation with her.

It was revealed on Sunday that her results had come back positive for coronavirus.

Health officials said on Tuesday that the woman’s sister, who also traveled to Italy, has also since tested positive for the disease.

‘I 1000 percent had symptoms when I landed in the states. I don’t blame Tampa. We were coming in from another domestic flight,’ she said.

‘No one at the CDC sounded prepared or educated on what was going on. When talking about an outbreak in Milan, Italy, I think they should know what part of the country that’s in.’

The woman refused to say what flight she was on coming into New York or Tampa but said she had given those details to the CDC.

A spokesperson for the Tampa International Airport confirmed that a woman in her 20s who has since tested positive for the disease flew through the airport.
