Rep. Doug Collins is hitting Sen. Kelly Loeffler, an unelected appointee, for her long-time support of Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) following his shameful vote in favor of impeaching President Donald Trump.

Collins and Loeffler will likely be on the ballot in November with the Democrat Party nominee for the Senate election, which will result in a run-off election if no candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote. Loeffler has never been elected, used to support Democrat candidates, and got her start in GOP politics bundling money for Romney’s failed presidential campaign in 2012.

Collins noted in a campaign ad exposing Loeffler that she put up “nearly $1 million” to Romney’s campaign in 2012 while she gave “NOTHING” to President Trump’s campaign in 2016. When Trump needed her support, she was absent like rest of the GOP establishment machine.

“Loeffler’s big money talks: but it was silent for Donald Trump,” Collins wrote in a tweet above the campaign video.

.@kloeffler stood with Mitt Romney in 2008 and 2012. In primaries and the general. But not a dime for @realDonaldTrump — not even against Hillary Clinton.

It was a continuation of an attack that Collins levied at Loeffler earlier this week:

Daily reminder that @kloeffler donated more than 750k to elect Mitt Romney in 2012 and zero dollars to elect @realDonaldTrump in 2016. #gapol https://t.co/gL7afQgrpc

“Desperate, baseless attacks will not distract Senator Loeffler from supporting President Trump’s agenda and fighting for Georgians,” a Loeffler’s campaign spokesman said in response to the ad.

Matt Whitlock, who works as a senior adviser for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), said he felt that Collins’ ad was “ridiculous.” The NRSC is firmly behind Loeffler, who was appointed to the post against the wishes of President Trump by Governor Brian Kemp last year.

Loeffler has been busy paying lip service to President Trump in the hopes to hang on to the Senate seat that she won undemocratically due to her elite connections.

After 2 weeks, it’s clear that Democrats have no case for impeachment. Sadly, my colleague @SenatorRomney wants to appease the left by calling witnesses who will slander the @realDonaldTrump during their 15 minutes of fame. The circus is over. It’s time to move on! #gapol

We’ve moved on. We’re focused on results. We’re going to win in November and reelect @realDonaldTrump! pic.twitter.com/EyOICLMORI

In late 2012, Loeffler ingratiated herself to the GOP establishment by donating to the Romney Super PAC, Restore Our Future. She also paid off the NRSC to the tune of $247,500 along with her husband Jeffrey Sprecher. The big money she threw around put her in the position where she was elected U.S. Senator.
