Understandably, there will be many who will feel their anger spilling over as we all discover that the mainstrain stream media (MSM) have known just how dangerous the Cascadian Subduction Zone (CSZ) actually is. For the past three years, MSM outlets have accruately reported on the threat, while at the same time, grossly underestimating the consequences of the threat.

As I was researching as much as could find on the CSV, I was awestruck at the amount of MSM material that is available. I quickly came to the conclusion that this event is well understood but the effects are being covered up. The MSM complicity in this threat is a story unto itself and this is that story.

AS a point of reference and as a starting point as to the seriousness of the CSZ, it is important to briefly look at what happened in Japan in 2011. Five years ago a 9.0 mag earthquake and tsunami devastated eastern Japan in 2011, and scientists say it’s a question of when, not If, it happens here in the Pacific Northwest; research shows the region is overdue for a major quake.

To prepare for a devastating natural disaster, officials are drawing up evacuation plans and greenlighting seismic upgrades. Don Dahler filed the following report on the efforts that some communities are making in preparing for the coming disaster.

This 1700 earthquake drowned the Pacific Northwest long ago and there’s still evidence of the event today. The 1700 earthquake drowned the the Pacific Northwest.

Tsunami Simulation Developed by Washington State University

The real danger are the resulting tsunamis which follows the earthquakes. The following is a Tsunami wave simulation for Washington State from a hypothetical magnitude 9.0 earthquake (L1) scenario on the Cascadia subduction zone. Developed by Washington Geological Survey hazard geologists.

Liquification of the Soil

Though the impact of Wednesday’s 5.9-magnitude earthquake off Oregon’s coast was minimal, a lesser-known risk of anearthquake and it is a phenomenon called liquefaction and it takes place on sandy soil tht turns to liquid and loses its ability to support weight, In this report, Tom Bearden reports what’s being done to prepare for a major quake.

The Northwest Is Facing “4 Minutes From Hell”

How Long Does a Quake Last? Seismologists know that how long an earthquake lasts is a decent proxy for its magnitude. The 1989 earthquake in Loma Prieta, California, killed sixty-three people and caused six billion dollars’ worth of damage, lasted about fifteen seconds and had a magnitude of 6.9.

A thirty-second earthquake generally has a magnitude in the mid-sevens. A minute-long quake is in the high sevens, a two-minute quake has entered the eights, and a three-minute quake is in the high eights. By four minutes, an earthquake has hit magnitude 9.0.

An adult man is knocked over by ankle-deep water moving at less thn 7 miles an hour. The tsunami will be moving more than twice that fast when it arrives to Seattle. Its height will vary with the contours of the coast, from twenty feet to more than a hundred feet.

More From the New Yorker:

“The inundation zone will be scoured of structures from California to Canada. The earthquake will have wrought its worst havoc west of the Cascades but caused damage as far away as Sacramento, California—as distant from the worst-hit areas as Fort Wayne, Indiana, is from New York. fema expects to coördinate search-and-rescue operations across a hundred thousand square miles and in the waters off four hundred and fifty-three miles of coastline.

If Sacramento is in the inundation zone, this brings the Oroville Dam into play. If the dam breaks, 2 million could die!

What the “Quiet” Experts Tell the CSS

It is clear that the MSM has known of the dangers for years. As the reader can see, there have been scattered reports on this danger. The experts are now terrified to speak out. Some have left the country. Entire geology departments have been threatened. However, what they say privately is much worse than what the MSM has reported for the past three years. What the MSM is reporting in terms of casualty reports is bad enough, but their figures are gross underexaggerations.

Part Four of this series will deal with what the quiet and repressed voices are sayng.
