Lt. Col. Allen West may no longer be in Congress, but his time fighting to protect the nation he once put his life on the line to serve in the field of combat is far from over.

The former U.S. Congressman from Florida has relocated to Texas in recent years, and he is prepared for the final battle to save his nation. West’s recent book, “Hold Texas, Hold the Nation: Victory or Death,” explains that Texas is the last frontier to save the country that is on the precipice of socialism and despair.

West is running to be the state party chair for the Texas Republican Party, challenging incumbent James Dickey in next year’s race. He explained in an interview last week with Yantis Green of San Angelo Live that he is uniquely qualified to lead the party as the state fends off a blue wave that threatens the future of Texas and the rest of America along with it.

“We need to get people to understand what makes Texas special. We need to get those folks to understand why there’s only one flag that can fly at the same height as the American flag,” West said, referring to new arrivals moving to Texas from other states such as himself.

West believes that Texas has become a victim of its own success, and the bustling economy and shared prosperity are rapidly changing the demographic make-up of the state. Multinational corporations are bringing in workers from other more liberal states who are in turn voting for Democrats and putting the future of the state in serious jeopardy.

West also thinks that he can heal the party and provide some stable leadership to after state house speaker Dennis Bonnen’s sharp fall from grace. After going to war with grassroots Republicans over his support of gun control, Bonnen announced that he will not be seeking election after being caught making backroom deals on an embarrassing audio tape that was released to the public.

“There are three things that leadership is all about: it’s honor, integrity and character,” West explained. “And when I look at Speaker Bonnen and the position that he’s in as speaker of the House of the great state of Texas, we need to have someone of impeccable character, and not what we have heard from that tape that has just recently came out.”
