The National Basketball Association (NBA) has come increasingly under fire for their close relationship with China after Daryl Morey, general manager for the Houston Rockets team, posted a controversial tweet in favor of Hong Kong freedom protesters.

The public continues to make the situation more difficult for NBA executives, as producer Andrew Duncan reportedly bought 300 tickets for protesters to wear ‘Stand with Hong Kong’ t-shirts during a Nets/Raptors game last week.

“We want to use our performance art to show our support for Hong Kong and the NBA,” organizer Chen Pokong said to the New York Post.

“It seems like NBA people cannot choose their words,” he added. “So if we don’t stop them, they not only will do bad things in China, they will do bad things in America.”

This will likely only make China even more angry at the NBA, as they have already threatened retaliation against NBA commissioner Adam Silver for not being sufficiently subservient to the communist totalitarian nation.

“To please some American politicians, Silver has fabricated lies out of nothing and has sought to paint China as unforgiving,” the Chinese communist propaganda network CCTV said, adding that Silver would receive “retribution sooner or later.”

The NBA’s signature player – LeBron James – issued a groveling response to the controversy that only made the situation worse. Despite a long history of taking “woke” stances against President Donald Trump, James bowed to his Chinese masters when his back was against the wall.

“I don’t want to get into a [verbal] feud with Daryl Morey, but I believe he wasn’t educated on the situation at hand, and he spoke,” James said last week.
