Texas politicians are lining up to sell out the 2nd Amendment, as Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, Fort Worth Police Chief Ed Kraus, and Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo took the stage at the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ press conference on Monday to endorse gun control.
“The 911 calls don’t come into the Senate, they don’t come into the Congress, they come into the police chiefs and mayors,” Acevedo said. “It’s not the Congress that shows up. By the time they get there, the blood has been cleaned up and the bodies have been removed.”
Acevedo, Price, and Kraus are endorsing universal background checks, which would give gun grabbers in Washington D.C. a list of firearm owners to profile, and “red flag” laws to eviscerate due process and allow for the revocation of gun rights based on judicial action.
“We need the federal government to get involved in this,” Price said. “What Chief (Kraus) needs is a database that covers everybody, not just Texas.”
To their great shame, Republican leaders in Texas are fully on board with these gun-grabbing bureaucrats.
Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick have already sold their state’s gun owners out in the wake of last month’s mass shootings. Abbott wants a special legislative session “immediately” to pass gun control, and Patrick claims he is “willing to take an arrow” from the National Rifle Association in order to attack the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution.
Abbott also signed eight executive orders that set the stage for expansive gun control to be implemented throughout his state last week.
“Texas must achieve several objectives to better protect our communities and our residents from mass shootings,” Abbott said in a press release about his executive action.
The Democrats are happy with their opponents caving on gun control, and are using the momentum as a way to push even further for constitutional infringements.
Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-El Paso) said that unless gun control is passed nationally, there will be “more blood on the streets in Texas, more blood on the hands of those who choose not to take action,” pointing the blame at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in particular.
“Red flag” laws have already resulted in horrifying abuses, including the loss of at least one life. The laws were used in Oregon to rob a pro-Trump marine of his guns in order to protect ANTIFA domestic terrorists, and in Connecticut to disarm a college student after he posted a social media meme deemed offensive by the government. Recent hysteria has made pre-crime a reality in states throughout America, and Texas may be the next to join them.
