Speaker Nancy Pelosi called on President Trump to remove a video from his Twitter feed critical of Rep. Ilhan Omar that Dems say have brought threats
Pelosi also said she’s asked Capitol Police to conduct ‘security assessment’
‘The President’s words weigh a ton, and his hateful and inflammatory rhetoric creates real danger. President Trump must take down his disrespectful and dangerous video,’ Pelosi said
The video is pinned to the top of Trump’s Twitter feed
Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump wishes ‘no ill will’ against Rep. Omar
But Sanders added he is right to call out her comments on the 9/11 attacks
‘Certainly the president is wishing no ill will …’ Sander said, ‘but the president is absolutely and should be calling out the congresswoman’
Trump tweeted ‘WE WILL NEVER FORGET’ with a video that showed Omar’s ‘some people did something’ 9/11 speech intersected with video of the disaster
The video didn’t show Omar’s speech in full and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was quick to clap-back at the president’s outburst, calling it ‘dangerous’
Omar has said the furor surrounding the comments – which she believes were taken out of context – stem from the fact that she is Muslim, and not white

President Donald Trump said Monday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has lost control of her caucus and Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Muslim congresswoman from Minnesota, is running the show.

As he prepared to fly to Omar’s home state for a tax day event, the president called the Minnesota Democrat an ‘anti-Semite’ who is ‘ungrateful’ in a tweet that questioned the Somalian-born lawmaker’s loyalty to the United States.

Omar and her family applied for asylum and relocated to the U.S. in the mid-90’s. She became a U.S. citizen as a teen.

‘Before Nancy, who has lost all control of Congress and is getting nothing done, decides to defend her leader, Rep. Omar, she should look at the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and ungrateful U.S. HATE statements Omar has made. She is out of control, except for her control of Nancy!’ he claimed.

Pelosi on Sunday called on President Donald Trump to remove a ‘dangerous’ video from his Twitter feed critical of Rep. Ilhan Omar that Democrats claim have brought threats of violence against her.

‘The President’s words weigh a ton, and his hateful and inflammatory rhetoric creates real danger. President Trump must take down his disrespectful and dangerous video,’ Pelosi said in a statement from London, where she is traveling with lawmakers.

She also said she’s asked Capitol Police to investigate any threats to the freshman Democrat from Minnesota.

‘Following the President’s tweet, I spoke with the Sergeant-at-Arms to ensure that Capitol Police are conducting a security assessment to safeguard Congresswoman Omar, her family and her staff. They will continue to monitor and address the threats she faces,’ Pelosi said.

The video is pinned to the top of Trump’s Twitter feed.

‘WE WILL NEVER FORGET’ he tweeted on Friday night, accompanied by a 43 second video that showed Omar’s comment during a speech to the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), interspersed with footage from September 11, 2001.

Democrats have slammed the president for putting Omar’s life in danger. Pelosi’s statement is the first acknowledgement of official steps being taken to protect the lawmaker.

Pelosi’s call comes after White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said on Sunday President Trump wishes ‘no ill will’ against Rep. Omar but added he is right to call out her comments on the September 11th attacks.
