Tom Perez, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is scheduled to appear this Friday at a Texas election panel in Austin, Texas co-sponsored by the Mexican government.
The panel titled, Post-Midterms: Is Texas Turning Purple?, is co-sponsored by CasaMexico, a promotional group set up the Mexican government for the annual SXSW festival, as well as the Mexican Consul General in Austin. Perez described the discussion as a talk “about Democrats winning in the Lone Star State.”
Sharing the panel with Perez is Daniel Garza, the president of The Libre Initiative, a ” non-partisan, non-profit grassroots organization that advances the principles and values of economic freedom to empower the U.S. Hispanic community so it can thrive and contribute to a more prosperous America”; and Matt Barreto, co-founder and managing partner of Latino Decisions. Latino Decisions brags on its website that Barreto and co-founder Gary Segura were hired in 2015 by Hillary Clinton’s campaign: “In 2015, Barreto and Segura were hired by the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign to run polling and focus groups on Latino voters.”
The pro-DACA, anti-socialist Garza appears to be the balance on the panel.
Democrats made massive gains in Texas last year, and we plan to do it again in 2020. Please join me and @TheRabenGroup to talk about Democrats winning in the Lone Star State next week in Austin: https://t.co/28bBeiBbRx
