A new poll for France Info and newspaper Le Figaro shows that three quarters of French disapprove of Macron and his government’s performance.

According to the Odoxa and Dentsu poll, only 25 per cent of respondents said they were happy with the French government’s actions.

An overwhelming majority of 75 per cent said they are unhappy with the Macron government and the number is much higher among far left and right-wing voters.

Nine out of ten voters with sympathy for socialism disapprove of the French government. That number is even higher among voters of Marine Le Pen’s National Rally party: 96 per cent show their disapproval.

French is in the midst of a ‘yellow vest’ crisis, an anti-globalist movement that is supported by left and right-wing voters.

The protests, in which participants wear yellow vests and block roads and tourist areas, started seven weeks ago after the French government introduced higher taxes on petrol.

But the movement picked up other themes as well, like migration, higher wages and the resignation of Macron himself.
