Swiss community to serve halal only sausages at carnival to be more inclusive to Muslims

Instead of pork sausages, Wohlen AG will only be serving halal sausages made out of poultry, to be more inclusive to Muslims, Swiss tabloid Blick reports.
Since the 1960s Wohlen AG has given away free sausages at the carnival. Not everyone is happy about the change from pork to only poultry.
The Board President Peter Michel welcomes the change and doesn’t believe the community is losing anything or making a sacrifice.
He further stated the sausages were produced at a local butcher shop, passed all taste tests and were just as good as before.
“We want to keep the carnival tradition alive and reach as many people as possible”, Michel said. Excluding pork was done for practical reasons of avoiding mix-ups of the sausages and because it is easier than offering two options.
“Is it the 1st of April again? ”, Jean-Pierre Gallati of the Swiss People’s Party asks. He believes this is clear surrender to further Islamisation.
Gallati went on to say: “The festival has clear Christian roots and to ingratiate oneself to Muslims is stupid. That can’t be the solution.”
