Putin’s forces are allegedly massing in the annexed Crimea region and along Russia’s eastern-most borders with Ukraine.

Kiev have openly accused Moscow of planning to invade, and have been hold war games following the imposition of martial law and the calling up of its reserve army.

Ukraine sits between Russia and the NATO nations of Romania, Hungary, and Poland – all of which host troops from the West.

NATO have been called to intervene in the looming conflict – with Kiev begging for aid and calls to send warships into the Black Sea.

US Army General Philip Breedlove issued the chilling prediction after Russia seized Crimea back in 2014.

NATO’s top general overseeing the unfolding crisis, he warned Russia could bulldoze Ukraine in just three to five days.

He also predicted Russian forces would be ready to mobilise within 12 hours once given the order from Putin.

Russia has been accused of quietly preparing for an full-scale invasion of Ukraine, offering major support for the rebels currently fighting Kiev in the Donbass.

Breedlove said Russia’s military could achieve its objectives in Ukraine “in three to five days”.

He also speculated Russia would be looking to create a land corridor to connect Crimea to Russia along the western coast of the Sea of Azov.

The four-star general also suggested Putin may seized the Black Sea port of Odessa – where Royal Navy vessel HMS Echo is currently moored – or even attempt to push into Moldova.

His chilling remarks are now even more relevant as it appears Russia on the cusp of further moves against Ukraine.
