Possible Merkel successor agrees with open borders policy of 2015

Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, running for Merkel chairmanship of the CDU, avows the policy of open borders, newspaper the Frankfurter Allgemeine reports.
in an interview with the newspaper she says: “One also has to have the strength to put one’s faith in Europe during a nationalist pressure situation”.
She believes Merkel’s decision to leave the borders open in 2015 to hundreds of thousands of refugees was the right choice.
“I stand and continue to stand by the decision of the Federal Government” The Secretary General of the CDU continued and expresses doubts that a border closure would have been necessary:
“Would that have been called: To take action against refugees with the federal police, the military and water cannons – at a time when the whole country was marked by a welcoming culture?”
She also reiterated that there had been agreed upon European solutions with the neighbouring countries back then.
